Wordpress Update (2.3.2) - how to save valuable time

Well, I got around to upgrading to the latest version of Wordpress today, as I’ve been seeing that ‘upgrade me’ sign every time I’ve logged in to the road2blogging admin control panel.  And I thought that the explanation from wordpress below needed some action taking to make sure my blog was secure.

Wordpress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations. Get 2.3.2 now to protect your blog from these disclosures.”

How to Upgrade your version of Wordpress in a matter of minutes

I was led to an automatic upgrade plug-in for wordpress via Caroline Middlebrook’s Wordpress Niche ebook, and quickly found that it worked like a dream.

Yesterday, I upgraded one of my other blogs and being non-tech as I am I started to copy and paste the new files across via ftp, after putting the blog in maintenance mode and deactivating the plug-ins – oh, and I nearly forgot to backup !  It took me actually quite a while (around 10–15 minutes) to sort the blog out.  Then, I had to take it out of maintenance mode and re-instate all the plug-ins – it took me all together about 20 minutes; but, with the automatic up-grader it did it all for me – understandably I wanted to control it every step of the process, but it did everything in an instant which allowed me to use the time I would’ve wasted on to something more productive.

If you’re wanting to be more productive (and you should be) I’d suggest downloading this plug-in straightaway.

Linkapo - I’ve emailed you, but for people who have the same question, the WP backup plugin - http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup/ - is the best plugin I’ve found so far.
