Posting daily - is it ever enough?

Thanks for visiting road2blogging.com, if you like what you've read, then please subscribe to the RSS feed, or RSS by Email to stay on top of recent news and postings from the blog.

The above question is asked and debated about commonly throughout the blogosphere – when to post and how often. Whether you’re posting three times a day or every other, you’ll want to stick to a plan – why? well, read on. If you’re unsure about post length then check out this post on super-sizing your blog.
Once a day or a few times a week?
Many bloggers have chosen the route to publish a post once a day for readers, bloggin-ads.com reviews other blogs and produces some great rambling posts for their reader community. Yaro Starak also believes in posting quality posts each day in the form of pillar articles – I’d suggest heading over to his site and checking out his free blog profits blueprint ebook. Writing more content in these posts obviously make for a well written and informative read, and will hopefully create some chatter, comments and even some links to your blog. These posts
Should I post more than once a day?
More and more bloggers are posting to their blogs shorter more news ‘burst’ posts. Bloggernoob.com and problogger.com conduct this quite regularly and have some really interesting posts, that are short and informative. Bloggernoob has been producing more posts on topics that I like lately, instead of the snippet posts of other bloggers and other websites. Problogger (like I need to tell you) has some fantastic news stories and one of lately that really annoyed me, being the announcement about Adsense changing its policy on referral commissions.
Will anyone read the content
This all comes down to the length of your posts and the quality/readership your writing brings to the reader who reads them. If people know how many posts you are going to produce in a week, then they will be more likely to check their RSS feed reader and read each post – if your posts are short and meaningless, as well as being posted onto your site at different times, then people are going to be less likely to come back to your blog and may even click the un-subscribe button.
What? You don’t have a plan!
Being consistent and having a plan with writing your posts is crucial, not because you will get into a habit of writing on a consistent basis (once a day, or twice a day), but so that your readers will become accustomed and ‘learn’ when to read your blog. Now I’m not saying that readers in your community will read your blog everyday if that is what your posting schedule will become, but they will know that say on Tuesday (if they haven’t read their feeds on the Monday) they’ll know how many posts are coming from you.
It would be interesting to hear about what your norm for putting posts on your blog is and what your opinion is?

Good Post
In my own experience I have found that since I started more frequently, readership has gone up and things are starting to happen. But it is my first blog and I don’t know if this is just normal growth after the first month.I read a post yesterday, where a blogger (who posted multiple times a day) said, paraphrased, that though each article would get less readers the total would me more than if he just had one post.

I think that you should never post more than twice in a day. You’ll run out of ideas faster; and people will lose track.

One thing I know is that human beings have habits. And once these habits are formed, it always hard to change. So, the starting point is to have a clear idea of what you want to achieve in your blog. This will always keep you focus.
I don’t agree that writing many posts a day might make you to run out of ideas. I would, rather, say that limiting your post to one a day can help your readers to assimilate what you have written well. Anyway, just be consistent with the approach you have chosen.

For me, I would like to post once a day, but time does not permit it.
I instead post three times a week at regular times: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My posts are usually longer than most, but I try to make them informative.
Each blogger is different, which is why I like that fact that each blog is also different.

Nice post.
I don’t really ever have a plan… I just spend most of my day looking for, and thinking about content, then, at about midnight I start posting. Then, based on where I go with my posts, I may post 5 posts in one night…Other times, it gets difficult. I struggle to come up with content. I post EVERY day though. No matter what. Because I want visitors EVERY day.

There was an article over Problogger about this very issue. A blogger needs to find balance. Too much posts and readers can’t keep up. Too little and they may lose interest.

Yeah, I believe that posting daily is a good thing and it brings content to your readers.
Hmm, think that blogger is a little bit naive to think that, a more detailed post would be better I think, and he may get more subscribers and backlinks too!

Agree Ninja, if the blog has just one blogger, but if it’s a news blog like techcrunch it is good that there are numerous posts a day.

@ Emmanuel - totally agree that bloggers should keep a schedule or habit to post every day (or even twice a day), like your thinking of consistency too.
@ Paul - Totally agree that each blog/blogger is different, and if you are writing much longer detailed posts such as on your blog then I think 3/4 times a week is good.
@ Leon - There probably was an article on this very issue over at problogger, as Darren has posted on many subjects and topics. I agree with you that a fine balance is need by bloggers, but I also agree with other bloggers that it depends on the blog’s niche (i.e. the readers of the blog)

In my opinion getting up 4-6 posts a week on your blog should be good enough to have readers visit your site.

I totally agree with the above!

All it’s up to you, everybody has a different rhythm and you should post when you are inspired. I wrote a post about it the last week, you can check my viewpoint about this topic.
