Connecting with ‘A-List Bloggers’ - using Entrecard.com to network

Thanks for visiting road2blogging.com, if you like what you've read, then please subscribe to the RSS feed, or RSS by Email to stay on top of recent news and postings from the blog.

Many bloggers will have read around the blogosphere about a new networking site – entrecard.com.  Chatter of free traffic and opportunities to advertise for free on JohnChow.com, Problogger.net and Shoemoney.com have been posted on many blogs.  If you’re unsure about what entrecard is, then I’d recommend taking a trip over to Tyler Cruz’s review of the process.

Well, even though I haven’t started my challenge just yet, I decide to sign up to entrecard and ‘road-test’ it to see if it would help me in connecting with similar bloggers, and if I could increase my non-existent profile before I shower the blog with posts on Saturday morning.

Since signing up a little over 2 weeks ago and I’ve had some fantastic results.

Data-tables

Many people have clicked through to my entrecard and therefore through to my blog.  I’ve also had numerous comments on some posts on the blog, with some posts being stumbled – receiving a large amount of traffic after the first day!

Rising through the ranks

With the establishment of the road2blogging.com blog as a money making plan, I chose to place the blog into the ‘make money online’ category, which had 34 different blogs in when I signed up, and now has over 110 123 blogs! and is growing day by day.  As a new and ‘non-posting’ blogger (until Saturday that is) I was surprised at how many places I could climb above others (what I considered more respectable blogs) to be in the top ten within this very competitive niche – see below:

Seventh in line behind many bloggers whom I respect, including JohnChow, Darren Rowse and Tyler Cruz - not bad to be closely behind other great bloggers that are trying something new too.

Connecting directly with A-list bloggers

Here’s JohnChow advertising on my blog:

And here is a look at my dashboard – I’ve dropped a lot of cards, but I’ve also received quite a few, especially for a new blog!

If you take a look over to the right of the picture you’ll see the big Chow himself has opted to advertise his entrecard on my blog today for 24hours.  Great work if you ask me, as this blog has been active for just under a month, and has less than 10 posts on it!  I think I’m going to have to wait for the opportunity to advertise on his blog though, as when I did have the chance I didn’t take it.  Why you ask? Well, I would’ve had to generate another 100 credits before attempting to bid on his site, and I felt it would’ve been in vain.  Alas, I can keep trying to network with other bloggers and I’ve already found some fantastic new and established bloggers who I have communicated directly with already.

My view on Entrecard

The system is really well thought out, and there are many start-up blogs contained in the different categories, but, it is all about networking and ultimately new people (such as myself) want to get known, meet new people and connect with other like-minded bloggers.  There has been some scepticism about the process of dropping cards and receiving credits.  Also, everyone is eagerly waiting to see what the entrecard credits will turn out to be worth, but for now it’s a great process to connect with leading bloggers and hopefully advertise on some top blogs for ‘free’.

What about you?

Have any popular bloggers advertised on your blog, or dropped their entrecard into you?  It appears Darren Rowse is a little silent at the moment on entrecard and I suspect he is implementing a little testing.

At the current time I seem to be getting good traffic (and readers/comments/subscribers) from my two weeks of networking and activities on entrecard, what do you think will happen in 2008, will it survive and prosper?

I too was thinking about Darren and his seemingly lack of interest. But who knows what he has up his sleeve. Honestly I have been very happy with the traffic results. John Chow is coming up on my blog here in the next couple of days. I was pretty happy that he opted to advertise on my blog. Oh and before I forget, thank YOU for advertising on The Big Bald Blog! I am kind of confused as to why so many people are rejecting my ad. Oh well. Also, I have been sending my top referrers and droppers 50 credits as a way of saying thanks. I am going to be running a contest soon and one of the prizes will be 150 Entrecard Credits. Not that it is a big deal, but I am sure someone will enjoy the boost.

    Hey Andy,

Good to hear John Chow is advertising on your blog too, think he must be wanting to spend those credits, as to advertise on his is over 200ec’s, so just under 100ec a day is quite a lot for him!

Not sure as to why your ad is getting rejected, but it could be something to do with your entrecard on display, I personally liked your other one.

Good news on the contest though, as I’m sure a few people will be interested in this.

If big bloggers advertise with me or if I get a chance to advertise with them that would be nice.

The best opportunity is connecting with other blogs and other like minded people on the web.

I’ve gotten a lot of good traffic and signed up for other peoples services through Entrecard.
