Why stop blogging when you don’t want to?

Apologies to all if you haven’t heard much from me at this blog in the past week, but I’ve been off sick (had a virus) and haven’t been able to get out of bed some days. Here’s an overview of what happened.
Why stop?
The point is I didn’t want to stop blogging, but couldn’t get out of bed – was in a lot of pain and my head felt like a 10 ton rock. Most days I didn’t get to the screen and the others I only had the energy (and the vision) for checking my emails.
Didn’t you have a backup plan?
Unfortunately I didn’t. I had around 8 half written posts in a file on my computer, but didn’t want to make an attempt to finish them as they would probably be crap to read.
I should’ve had a backup plan, but I didn’t, guess what the first job is for me now?
The Results
RSS subscription went down from around 60 to 11 people – guessed it would drop to 1 (as I subscribe to my own feed for testing), but glad it has stayed above 10! yay!
My Entrecard visitors have dropped, most probably because I wasn’t participating on other blogs, dropping cards and posting in the forums my ‘rating’ fell from 110 to 54 in a matter of days.
Readers and comments dropped too, but a good thing I still received a couple over the last week.
What now?
Well, I’m going to be writing content, content, content! I’m finishing up on a few posts and will be releasing them over the next few days.
I’m creating a back-up plan and a number of finished (but unpublished) posts in the wordpress admin section ‘just in case’.
I’m getting back to entrecard, and my comment posting strategy.
2008 is going to be a fantastic year for me and I’m just finishing my strategic plan – I’m ready to commence battle!
I’ll be twittering away as normal.
What I’ve learned
Create at least 5 ‘general’ posts in draft form that can be published in times of need.

Or if you have buddies with the same interest, you could enroll them to be your guest writer in your absence.

Totally agree with you Ez, looking into guest bloggers in the middle of 2008 - just want to establish the blog first though

Must be the Make Money online niche Tom, as my other blog RSS feeds have increased also.
Added to this that the blog is under a month old could have negatively affected it is understandable.
It’ll be back up in a few weeks or so - trust me
